Asthma Clinic : Emirates Hospital Lectures at the World Asthma Day Conference in Dubai.
May 2004: The 2nd World Asthma Day Awareness Conference in Dubai was held at the Le Meridien, Airport Road on the 5th May, 2004. The seminar is organised by the Environmental Protection Services Company (EPSCO LLC), leaders in Indoor air quality. Dr. Mazen Abdel Hadi, Pulmonologist at Emirates Hospital is one of the eight doctors that spoke on the subject of “New Strategies for Diagnosing and Treating Asthma”. There was an interactive conference wherein the audience can interact with the speakers for any asthma related queries. The workshop was aimed at Asthma sufferers, parents of children with Asthma, students, health care professionals, doctors, nurses and environmental professionals in the UAE.

Emirates Hospital facilitate its Medical Lung Capacity equipment to test if a person has Asthma or not. People attending the seminar was able to undergo an Asthma test to detect how healthy their lungs are, be diagnosed with Asthma or explore the possibilities of acquiring it in the near future.

Dr. Mazen Abdel Hadi said, “At Emirates Hospital, we are dedicated to help create awareness among the public about the best methods for diagnosis of the disease and treat Asthmatic patients with the reliable and advanced medical treatments at hand”. He further said, “World Asthma Day is observed in over 80 countries. The theme for this year’s World Asthma Day is ‘Managing Your Asthma.’ This conference held in the Emirates allows us to bring people with Asthma face to face with professionals in the field to share experiences and ideas and to bridge the gap between science and care to create a better future”.

Dr. Max Sawaf, CEO of Emirates Hospital said, “We hope to achieve a large response for this seminar and make this campaign a success. Hundreds of Asthmatic patients are looking forward to answers on the importance of healthy living and taking responsibility on how to treat and diagnose Asthma and other allergies which can be extremely life threatening”.

In the UAE 15% of the population have asthma and the instances of asthma among the children are very high. In the UAE 40% of children suffer from Asthma and other allergies. High prevalence of asthma has been accompanied by the unprecedented changes in the life style and environmental quality.
