Is it ok to have liposuction on the hips and thighs if you’re planning to have children later in life?
Yes. In fact it is better in some cases to have liposuction done before having children as the skin still has maximum elasticity. After pregnancy skin looses some of its tightness and can become saggy; however liposuction can be performed at any time in life, whenever fat stores become unsightly or impossible to shift through non-invasive techniques. Can liposuction be performed during pregnancy? Liposuction should never be performed during pregnancy and is not advisable during lactation. After delivery it is advisable to wait at least six months before having liposuction to give the skin a chance to return to its normal condition. Is Botox totally safe? Yes. It is totally safe if performed in the hands of a medical specialist. Botox treatments have no known side effects, except in the case of severe allergic reactions which rarely happen. However, Botox is not recommended in the following cases:
If Botox is injected too close to your upper eyelids, temporary upper eyelid droop may result. This can take months to improve. Injection of your forehead will diminish your ability to raise your eyebrows. This is not a problem for most, but those with marked eyebrow droop may find that their droop worsens following injection. What about lip enhancements? There are three general categories of procedures that enhance the lips. These are injections of materials such as collagen or perlane, grafting in substances such as gortex or fat, and local flaps and incisions that redistribute the tissues from inside the mouth to outside. The procedures can range from simply a 20 minute office procedure with no anesthesia, immediate return to work, and no swelling or discomfort all the way up to a two hour hospital procedure under general anesthesia, significant swelling, 1-2 weeks off work, and some pain How long do collagen implants last? Collagen implants are not permanent. Because collagen is a natural substance it slowly breaks down into amino acids that are then absorbed by the body. The results of collagen injections last approximately 3 to 6 months and since injectable collagen eventually breaks down, ongoing treatments are necessary to maintain the results you desire. Most patients receive touch-ups within 3 to 12 months of the original treatment. If collagen implants are discontinued altogether, over time your face gradually returns to its natural contours. However, since studies have shown that injected collagen may stimulate the formation of your own collagen at the injection sites, sometimes the correction may last 2 years or more. Can collagen implants cause allergies? Injectable bovine collagen is derived from cows and may cause allergic reactions. Approximately 3% of the population is allergic to bovine collagen and these individuals should not receive collagen implants. Are there any alternatives besides collagen for plumping up lips? There are alternative filler treatments which do not cause allergies such as Hylaform (avian source), and Restylane or Achyal – (non animal source) which are becoming much more popular than bovine collagen. Is there a procedure to make my hands look younger? Fat grafting to the hands, or hand rejuvenation is the most effective way to make hands look younger. It is performed using Liposuction equipment which takes fat typically from the abdomen which is then re-injected into the back of the hand to fill in the areas between the bones and blood vessels. Side effects include bruising and swelling in the area where the fat is taken from, as well as the area where the fat is placed. It may be necessary to have a second round of injections seven to 10 years after the initial surgery to maintain the plump look. Are saline implants safer than breast implants? Saline-filled implants were believed to be safer than silicone because rupture or leakage will only release salt water--not silicone gel--into the body. Recently, the FDA scientific panel recommended lifting the ban on silicone implants because they found no proof of any increased risks from using the silicone variety. Silicone implants feel more natural to touch. Like their saline counterparts, silicone breast implants can harden, change shape, and shift position. They can also cause infection, pain, and loss of feeling in the tissue of the breast. They do not usually interfere with breast-feeding or the detection of breast cancer. Does breast augmentation last for life? Breast augmentation makes the breasts larger for the life of the implant. Remember, also that larger breasts sag faster than smaller breasts, and augmented breasts do this as well. If large implants are used for breast augmentation, it is possible that surgery will have to be done in later years to correct sagging. How can I get rid of my cellulite? There are many treatments available to treat cellulite, ranging from detox diets to liposuction and lots of “fad” claims. It all depends on how much effort, time and money you are prepared to invest. However, cellulite is quite hard to shift once it forms as the orange-peel effect comes from toxins that are trapped between fat cells. Once toxins have been deposited in areas of the body, most typically, buttocks and thighs, the resulting cellulite sometimes needs more than one form of treatment to get the best results: Endermologie™ (also called "LPG") This is a non-invasive, non-surgical "cure" for skin contour irregularities. The machine is a vacuum device which creates suction to temporarily immobilize and lift your soft tissue while dual "rollers" create deep, subdermal massage to the connective tissue and fat globules to improve the appearance of cellulite. The stretching of the fibrous bands loosen and releases the fat by mobilizing it or "setting it free" from the tight and compact grasp of the connective tissue Cellulite is thought to be reduced by " increased vascularity" which is thought to better remove waste. The act of massage may also promote new collagen growth which is thought to help strengthen the connective tissue thereby prohibiting fat globules from "pressing" through the honeycomb structure of the connective tissue itself. Target Cell Liposuction This technique works on the bulging areas and liposuction is done with a fine cannula. Since it is impossible to verify which cell or collection of cells are responsible for the bulging area without a larger incision -- this procedure is performed blindly and more by feel -- unlike other liposuction procedures. However, generally speaking liposuction is not a solution for cellulite. Body "Wraps", and Cellulite Creams and Pills Body wraps temporarily compress the tissues and cause you to lose water locally – but do not make you loose fat. As soon as you drink a glass or two of fluid or eat a regular meal, it's back. It may be a luxury but it does nothing for you for long term, fat loss. Neither do mud, seaweed or herbal wraps. All you get is some localized edema loss and some cleaned out pores or good exfoliation. Cellulite creams and pills have NEVER been proven in a certifiable clinical study to affect any cellulite cases. Dry Brushing & Massage Dry brushing will encourage lymphatic drainage, through increased circulation, but is not a cure for cellulite, it will help to make the skin look a little less rippled. Detox Diets These will not eliminate cellulite, but will definitely help with overall wellness and vitality and will increase lymphatic drainage. If done on a regular basis, they will help to prevent more cellulite forming as less toxins will be stored in the body. |
